bryan, any word from Don about how the pre-production timetable is going on the film? is there any known contact info for people directly involved with the film (for general crew or inquiries about local casting)? last I heard, the shoot has been pushed back a little to six weeks in June/July... is that still accurate?

yeah, i'm not sure on that. I'll try to get clarification from Don. Last I heard it would be filming in May and the new book was pushed back until SEP 09. maybe he can provide more info though...

I love Donald Miller, but I find it somewhat ironic that a 60-min dvd about how Jesus is being marketed is being sold for $30 bucks.

I just got a copy of Don's book at the local Goodwill of all places. I have had the misfortune in the past, to hook up with a rather militant church where we were branded as failures and called ugly names, we were also hounded late at night on the phone, to see if perhaps we were doing something unseemly to ourselves, that would "taint" the services. I was a musician on the "Praise Team". I was later to learn that it was actually a guineau pig program to see if they could turn you into "their kind of Christian". Needless to say, it was pretty damaging. When I read Don's book the other day, I felt as though I will be whole and healthy again. I love Jesus, he healed my Mom when she nearly died of congestive heart failure last Summer, and she made the quickest recovery they had ever seen. Everyone was talking about it!! I have seen God work, many times. I am considering going back to church, but don't want to do the "Prosperity gospel" thing, with the big emphasis on big houses, big cars, lots of money, huge churches and "marriages". The single people at the weird church I went to, were persona non grata. Everyone was in a big hurry to get married, and that was all the pastor talked about. You were only "half a person," if you weren't, according to him, and all the single people did, was eat jello and gaze hungrily at the married couples. It was awful, and I cut out. Haven't been back. I'm still a musician. Hiding my gift under a bushel, its' safer there. Any thoughts on this?

A friend of mine works for a church which recently purchased this DVD intended for small group study. It's a great teaching lecture, and I really enjoyed it. The only problem is that it's really not worth 30 bucks. -Especially when there is so much other content I can just download for free from other sources. All of Mark Driscoll's sermons are available for free. No offense to Donald Miller, I love the guy's stuff, but it's just not practical to pay 30 bucks to hear him preach for only 1 hour. In my opinion the DVD would be better if it contained a collection of teachings.
