A Bit Screwy
Published by bryan | Filed under weblog reviews
From time to time we like to highlight some of the “not-so-positive” reviews of Don’s writing that we come across. It never hurts to think through a differing opinion and consider an opposing viewpoint.
For that reason we highlight Carrie’s recent review of Blue Like Jazz. On her blog, ReadingtoKnow, she discusses some of the many issues she had with BLJ,
“Granted, this is Miller’s own opinion of the world and, I remind you, he did not back up his thoughts with scripture or even try to defend them. He merely stated who he was and how he thought. The problem is that his “diary” was published and people latched on to it and indentified [sic] with it. But when you indentify with something you typically start to change behaviors/thoughts/feelings to engage with the familiar. Which is a problem when someone’s thoughts are a bit screwy and not exactly on target.”
There’s some discussion of her thoughts going on in the comments to the post. If you decide to jump in and participate, please do so with respect and grace as you’re representing us…
