I love your photos, we have the same camera! My pictures don’t look that good though. Thanks for sharing them!

Dear Don,
Thanks for sharing these pictures - you seem to have a knack for photography. (Did you learn a lot about the schematics of picture taking from John MacMurray?)
I happened to notice that most of your travel pictures are of places out in the wilderness. Sure, you’ve got the New Orleans street performer, the dog pooping on the lawn, and the tormented statue at the art museum, but the rest of the pictures seem to be rather rural. Is this just a coincidence, or are urban getaways just not something that interests you?

Dear Don,
I just finished a couple of your books and had been thinking that I wish my Dad (Dr. Charles Ashanin) had known you (and that you could have known him; he was kind of a rock star theologian in his way. Then I found this site and your photos and see that you have been on pilgrimmage with +Bishop Kallistos Ware, who is and old friend of my Dad’s, from the days when Bishop Kallistos was plain old Timothy Ware. Would you be interested in a copy of my Dad’s book “Essays On Orthodox Christianity”? I would be very pleased to send it to you along with his biography (publ. 2006). Someone has posted some video interviews on YouTube so if you want more info that’s a good place to look. Hope you don’t mind me posting this here; it seemed the most appropriate place on the site.
Your books are wonderful and I am looking forward to further reading.
P.S. Have you been to Iona?

These are so beautiful! I love that ability to capture beauty through both words and photography.

Hi Don,
Your pictures are great and your books as well. Your writing reminds me of when I left home as a teen in the 70s. I was really searching, being the youngest in an alcohol and drug addicted family. In my search, I was shocked to find the answers I was looking for in Jesus. I’ve since begun a ministry with my husband to help less than religious people find their way to the truth of Christ. I recommend your books to many and have found them to be a good stepping stone for them to begin their own journey back to God. Thanks for providing such a useful tool. I hope to tell my own story some day…maybe you’ll want to read it!

Dear Don,
I’m loving your book, “Blue Like Jazz”, it found me…my friend ask me why it’s taking me so long to read and I told her, “big thoughts require little bites.” I hope to finish it soon. So much of what you so, resonates with me…
how did you get inside my head…

Dear Don,
I`m 16 and currently reading (and loving) your book “To Own a Dragon” I would love to put a really long comment here but I`ve already done that and deleted it all. This may be an…odd question from a 16 year old person….from one thats never met or seen you. Anyways could you refer me to a email address or anything of the like where I can talk a bit more privately?? I know that may not be possible due to security reasons and such but even a private mail thing dedicated to fans would be great. Hope this a ok place to post this…..
