Amazing Grace

I received this e-mail today. I plan to see the movie tonight…here is the blurb:

And speaking of cosmic debt, the human race owes much to William
Wilberforce, who led the twenty year struggle to abolish the British slave
trade. Today marks the 200th anniversary of the vote that shut it down, and
what better way to celebrate than to see the brilliant new movie “Amazing
Grace,” opening nationwide today.

Just saw the movie today. Powerful. I also just finished the book by the same title: “Amazing Grace” by Eric Metaxas. It is a fatastic read if you want to know more about Wilberforce. He is a forgotton hero that can inspire us today to do more to for humanity.

I wrote a letter and want to send it to you by email without the whole world seeing it. How can I send it to your email? Send me the answer on mine.

    Don,

went to see “Amazing Grace” and had a flashback to your book TPD (which I just finished). It seems like you both felt closer to God in nature. I’ve felt that way when I take the time to just shut up and try to observe and listen more when I’m outdoors. Now I’m trying to read Pilgrim’s Progress to get a break from my Miller overdose of late. But it was great meeting you at the Willow conference last week and getting to take a pic with you. Wish we had time to do coffee but I think you were in a rush to get home. Keep writing…your honesty is refreshing and greatly appreciated.

    Dear Don,
As my closest friend and I are separated for the summer, she being at home and I still writing press releases for our college, she occasionally calls and reads to me from your books, as she owns them all and I own none of them (yet). Today she read a bit from “To Own a Dragon”. It’s the line about how what a writer writes can impact the writer more than the reader, which, being a writer myself, completely spoke to me. So thank you for your insight, endless supply of quotes, and ability to clarify and inspire the thoughts in this young writer’s head.
    Breanna
