?? no money in blogging ??
Published by bryan | Filed under Don Answers your ???s
Hi Don,
I’m almost done reading Blue Like Jazz and I’ve been truly blessed by the insights. I will be looking forward to seeing you at Messiah College on April 5.
Your style was initially so much like my inner monologue, that at first I wondered if I had gotten amnesia and had already published under the name “Donald Millerâ€. Then of course you made numerous references to things that would apply only to the male persuasion and I realized that either 1) I had a lot of explaining to do to my husband or 2) I never wrote a book called Blue Like Jazz.
After some milk and cookies I didn’t have the heart to tell my husband about my other life, so I decided to congratulate you on “your†book. Also known to me as “The Book in my Head†or “Tales and Overly-Pensive Thoughts of the Self-absorbed Dude Chickâ€.
I actually do have a question and it is this: Your book reads like a blog and I’m just wondering why didn’t you just do it that way and save me the $13.99 I had to spend to read my own book? I suppose your answer will include something about “making it as a writer†or “money for food and pipesâ€, but I’m eager to hear it nonetheless; that is if I’m not writing this to myself and I have amnesia and a website called donmillerfans.net. I guess I’ll know if you answer this, otherwise I’ll try to find a good doctor. I’m sure there are meds for stuff like this.
Thank you and may God continue to use and bless you.
Lisa
Lisa,
You guessed it, there’s no money in blogging! You see, I just typed that sentence and there’s no money in it at all. None. Still none. Plus, what would we use all those stinking trees for if we didn’t make books? And who wants to cuddle up by a fire and read a computer screen? And many people in Paraguay do not even have computers! I did it for the Paragueans. Why do you hate them so much? They’re good people.

LOL!
That’s too funny.

I can’t believe Lisa hates the Paragueans. Not nice.

Thank you! That was great. Everything I hoped for and more.
I really enjoyed your lecture and especially your chapel service. The exclusivity of God’s love and desire for relationship with us was breathtaking simple and elegant. I have reiterated this concept on a number of occasions now, and I don’t even take credit for it either! Jesus as a product in America was another great point. Although personally I think commercialism rather than “free market†might more accurately describe the concept. Free market makes bargains possible, commercialism promises something. Although both can have an ugly side. And of course the Casey quote, “How could you do this to me!†about the chicken nuggets. We’re just brats sometimes, aren’t we?! Really good stuff to hear.
Thank you for helping me deal with my hatred of Paragueans also. I guess I never really thought about it like that, but I see your point. Wow, how could I be so blind?
But I’m still not sure if you did it for the Paraguens or if I did, because what you said sounds like something I would say, so I’m not sure if I wrote this to myself and just forgot I did. You might have though becuase I’m cuddled up with my ibook next to a fire. Oh wait, my fire is burning trees! Back to square one.
Rock on brother! It is beauty to laugh! Thanks.
