?? speak up or shut up ??
Published by bryan | Filed under Don Answers your ???s
Don,
Hey man. I hated blue like jazz. But today is opposite day so that means I loved it. I have a qusetion for ya. Here goes. I am currently a youth pastor at a small church in Texas. We are like the third hole on the bible belt. Anyway, every “church†job I have had, I have felt like the leadership has hated me. I am not much of a diplomat, thanks to my mom, but the truth needs to be heard. How do I learn when to speak up and when to shut up?
-full of it, I mean questions.
Dear Texan,
That’s one of the toughest things to learn, isn’t it? But it takes practice. Just practice being quiet, not talking, not reacting, you know. Because so much of what we say cannot really be heard by the people we are talking to, and if we don’t love and want the best for them, scripture would indicate we are like a person clanging cymbals…most of the time I think we should keep quiet. But that’s easier said than done.

Hello Donald Miller.
Well…after reading a few of the comments that people left you, I’m pretty sure that you realize how amazing you are! So instead of praising you I’ll be the black sheep and complain. I recently read Through Painted Deserts and the one and only thing that bothered me is that I don’t know how the characters look. I’ve seen your pictures and that is all. Being a visual learner, I love to read with a picture of the person in my mind. I am proposing an excellent idea! How about a picture section on your website? I would love to see Paul, Danielle, etc. I would also love to see pictures of this Oregon country which you described so wonderfully. This is an odd request, but then again I’m an odd person. So…for the cazillionth time I will tell you how amazing you are. You’re books are a blessing, as are you.
Thanks,
Shannon
